Wrapped in Comfort

October is a personal month for me. I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was five years old. It was a long time ago, but she remains part of my life, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings her especially close to my thoughts.

A Friend's Recovery

This year, I am also thinking about a dear friend who recently underwent a double mastectomy. The photographs here show her wearing the Arwen from Arziya during her recovery.

She told me The Arwen was very comfortable and easy to wear over the medical devices she had with her after surgery. She said it helped her feel able to leave the house the following day. It made her feel better. Hearing that meant a great deal to me. Every recovery is personal, and I share this as one friend's experience, with respect for each woman's own needs and choices.

Comfortable Clothing for Hard Days and Happy Ones

I have always wanted Arziya to feel a little like a best friend, something a woman can turn to on her good days and her difficult ones. On a happy day, it can be the cherry on top. On a harder day, I hope it feels like a familiar blanket, offering a little comfort and ease.

My friend's words reminded me how much everyday things can matter when life feels unfamiliar. Being able to get dressed comfortably and step outside was something she valued. I am grateful that something I made could be useful to someone I care about.

A Thank You

To my dear friend: thank you for telling me what wearing this piece meant to you. Your words touched me as both your friend and the woman behind Arziya. And to anyone for whom October brings difficult memories or present worries, I hope you have people beside you who listen and keep showing up, long after the month has ended.
With love,
Rita, Founder of Arziya
